All pages and posts on Ancient Wisdom are written by Asaf Braverman. All photographs were taken by Ansley Braverman.
Asaf was born in Israel and raised in Europe. In 1995, he joined the Fellowship of Friends, an international school of internal development founded on the principles of the Fourth Way (as expressed by Gurdjieff and Ouspensky).
Asaf was discharged from the Israeli Army in 1998 and moved to California, where the Fellowship headquarters reside. He spent the next years studying the ancient wisdom of mankind. He sought to find earlier expressions of Fourth Way principles and gradually learned that all traditions expressed strikingly similar truths about man and the world around him. The differences between Egypt, Mesopotamia, India, Tibet, Meso-america, Europe and the like are only skin deep; at their heart, all cultures convey the same ancient message.
In 2007 set about traveling the world in search of that message. For two years, Asaf and Ansley traveled to all the major ancient sites of the world, spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Central and South America. Asaf brought the knowledge and experience that he had gained during the previous decade in California, to the places of its origin. A network of ancient wisdom began revealing itself unlike anything he had ever heard or read before. Asaf likened it to the metaphor of an ‘Ark’. Instead of a flood of water, the Ark survives through the flood of time and preserves its ancient contents to our day.
These two years of travel solidified the foundation of Asaf’s understanding, which he expresses in his book Ark in Time. The book is scheduled to be published by the end of 2012 (subscribe on the right to receive notices of its progress).
